Netflix has officially unveiled the first look at Eddie Murphy’s return as Axel Foley in the highly anticipated fourth installment of the iconic “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise. The streaming giant shared a sneak peek photo on Instagram, featuring Murphy donning Foley’s familiar Detroit Lions jacket. The film, titled “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley,” is slated for release next year.

In the Instagram announcement, Netflix captioned, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley brings Eddie Murphy back in his most iconic role.”

According to Tudum, the upcoming sequel will see original “Beverly Hills Cop” stars Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser, John Ashton, and Bronson Pinchot reprising their roles alongside Murphy. Joining the franchise are newcomers Kevin Bacon, Taylour Paige, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Mark Molloy is set to direct, and the film’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, revealed that Gordon-Levitt will play Foley’s new partner, promising a dynamic and humorous duo.

Bruckheimer shared insights into working with Murphy, emphasizing the brilliance he brings to the set every day, transporting everyone back to the ’80s. The original “Beverly Hills Cop” premiered in 1984, becoming a defining role for Murphy.
